Carol Leigh

I'm author of various California guidebooks, including Photographer's Guide to California Wildflower Locations, Photographer's Guide to Fall Color Locations, Photographer's Guide to Death Valley, and many more. I also produce California Photographer newsletter, a bimonthly publication devoted to encouraging you to get out of the house, travel around the state, and take pictures. I've been in this business since 1978, so I've gotten pretty good at telling photographers where to go!

I've been shooting since 1977, began selling my work in the early '80s, but have been writing about where to go to take pictures since 1978. My photos have appeared in various magazines, on school notebook covers, on plaques and greeting cards. I wrote a "calendar of events" column for Popular Photography magazine and have led photo workshops for various colleges in southern California. My most recently published work is an article on finding fall color in California which appears in the September 2001 issue of Sunset magazine. I'm a Navy brat, attended 22 different schools while growing up, but have made California my home all my adult life.

In this new CD-ROM project, Carol Leigh's Photographing California, I've been able to combine information on where to go in the state of California with color photographs and maps — something I've not been able to do in my black-and-white newsletter.
